Rare signature of boxer James J. Jeffries, the powerful heavyweight who famously fought Jack Johnson in 1910. ''Jas J Jeffries'' signature appears on a 8.5'' x 3.25'' slip of paper that is affixed at its top corners to a 1942 letter by Jeffries' buddy, Walter Hinton, who gives the autograph to an admirer. Hinton writes, ''...on many deer hunting trips together, having looked over the camp fire night after night at him I think I know him as well as anyone...he's one of the finest men I ever knew...'' Bold signature slip is in very good condition.
