Unique globe of the lunar surface, about 12” tall, signed in black felt tip “Jim Irwin, Apollo 15 LMP” and “Charlie Duke, Apollo 16 LMP,” with both astronauts adding a small “X” to mark the spot of their lunar landing. The orb is also signed by the parents of first moonwalker Neil Armstrong, Stephen Koenig Armstrong (signing “S. K. Armstrong”) and Viola L. Armstrong (adding “Our Very Best Wishes to you”). According to accompanying provenance from aerospace lecturer and historian Rick Boos, this globe was once owned by Neil Armstrong, who presented it to his parents following his historic Apollo 11 mission. Mrs. Armstrong presented it to Mr. Boos in the 1980s. Accompanied by the original Rand McNally ‘Lunar Globe Index and Guide’ and a four-page letter of provenance from Boos explaining that upon Armstrong’s refusal to sign the globe and suggestion that it be donated to a museum, Boos stopped his mission to have it signed by all twelve moonwalkers. An incredible space artifact once owned by the man who single-handedly made lunar history!
