Jim Irwin Autograph Manuscript Signed in Text "Jim Irwin," two pages, 8" x 10.5", front and verso. On lined loose-leaf paper, no place or date. A portion of a larger manuscript with corrections and two new paragraph markings. In full, "A Christian invited into the Islamic world to present a religious message! I never thought this would happen in my lifetime and never dreamed it would be Jim Irwin. What an opportunity and what a challenge. I shared the excitement of the trip to the moon and the lasting inspiration of the earth seen in a new light. I told my new friends of knowing that God is alive, that He loves all of us, and that He has a plan for each life. All the countries were deeply concerned about how they could accept the comforts of our advanced civilization and still retain their faith in God - a common dilemma facing men everywhere - the determination of proper priorities. You see that we face many similar problems." Jim Irwin frequently commented about how his experiences in space had made the presence of God more real to him than ever before. Irwin served as lunar module pilot for Apollo 15, July 26 to August 7, 1971. In 1972, he resigned from NASA and the Air Force to form a religious organization, High Flight Foundation, in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Accompanied by a 6" x 2.75" partly printed check filled out by Irwin, signed "James B. Irwin," payable to U.S. West for $99.17. Irwin dates it August 5, 1991, three days before he died of a heart attack; he was the first moonwalker to die. Light horizontal bank cancellation passes through upper case letters of his signature.

Shipping: Flat Material, Small (view shipping information)
