<B>Jim Henson Signed "Saturday Night Live" Contract.</B></I> A four-page agreement on NBC letterhead dated October 10, 1975, engaging Muppet creator Jim Henson to produce seven short, live Muppet segments for <I>Saturday Night Live,</B></I> signed on the last page by Henson in black ink. Henson ultimately produced 15 segments for the show, but the <I>SNL</B></I> writers were never comfortable writing for the characters (who were also unpopular with the audience) and the segments were dropped after the first season.
