This volume consists of ten letters edited by Jean Baptiste Du Halde, half of which are from America. Clean copy <BR><BR><I>Lettres Edifiantes...(XXIV Recveil)</B></I> Volume 24 of a Collection (Paris: Chez Nicolas Le Clerc, 1739), xxviii, {8), 444 pages, (12), 16mo (4" x 6.5"), in French, bound in contemporary calf with gilt and raised bands on spine. This volume features news from China and includes a letter that describes the death of four Jesuit missionaries by beheading. There is a large foldout plate illustrating this act.
