Vintage fountain pen signature, “Jesse Owens,” on the reverse of a 3.5 x 6 envelope. The front also has been hand-addressed and signed in the return address area by Ralph Metcalfe (signed “R. H. Metcalfe, Amer. Olympic Team, Berlin Germany). The envelope bears three stamps commemorating the 1936 Berlin Olympics and was postmarked in Koln, Germany on August 11, 1936, while the Olympics were still going on. Owens and Metcalfe were teammates, respectively taking the gold and silver medals in the 100-meter race. In fine condition, with a spot of soiling well below Owens’ name, and an adhesive address label on the front.
