. Gleason, Jess. 1891-19?. Oil on buffalo skull. Gleason and his wife, Alice, owned and operated the Circle Eight Ranch on the South Fork of the Teton River, Rocky Mountain Front. The ranch became a very popular dude ranch post WWII and later became part of the Nature Conservancy. His artwork focused on historic Montana themes, including Native Americans. Sold several pieces, including painted buffalo skulls, in the CMR Art Auction; especially in the 1970s. Painted in 1970 and commissioned from Scotty Zion, a good friend of the Gleasons, using a buffalo skull Scotty found. The Gleasons allowed the Zions to build a cabin on their land until the 1950s when it was moved to a location west of there.
