Four language ship's papers, signed by President Thomas Jefferson and Secretary of State James Madison. Countersigned by the Charleston collector Simeon Theus and notarized by Abraham Crouch. Dated 24 June 1806, ship's papers are for the brig ''Pamela,'' a ship of 207 89/95 tons commanded by James Taylor and bound for the Cowes, Georgia market, laden with rice, logwood and horns. 19.75'' x 16'' document on laid paper is in very good condition with some minor discoloration, creasing at edges and a small .25'' portion of the upper left corner torn. Federal paper seal intact. Beautifully framed in tones of grey, black and gold, with engravings of both Jefferson and Madison, to an overall size of 48'' x 27.5''. Near fine condition.
