<Our item number 109890><B>Jefferson Land Grant to Two Virginia Line Soldiers.</B> Document Signed &#40;&#34;Th: Jefferson&#34;&#41; as President, one page, vellum, Washington, 4 November 1802. Coutersigned by James Madison as Secretary of State and, on the reverse side, by Henry Dearborn as Secretary of War. Very good; seal is intact at lower left; age toning; right margin is trimmed and lower right tip is missing, affecting nnothing. Jefferson&#39;s signature is a little light and Madison&#39;s has skips in the ink. A grant of 300 acres &#34;<I>between the Little Miami and Sciota Rivers, north-west of the River Ohio</I>…&#34; to &#34;<I>Joseph Kerr assignee of Henry Massie</I>.&#34; The original grant was given to &#34;<I>Duncan Young &#40;a Soldier for the war&#41; and Lawrence Van Camp &#40;a Soldier for three years&#41;…in the Virginia Line on Continental Establishment</I>&#34; in 1799.
