Jeff Nicholson print
1984 black and white print of the Genoa Saloon, Nevada’s oldest. “Jeff Nicholson was born In Arcata, CA, moved to Reno in 1962 and graduated from Reno High School in 1966. He has been painting the life and landscape of Nevada for over 30 years and is considered by many the consummate Nevada realist painter. His work is in the permanent collections of the Nevada Museum of Art, the Nevada Governor’s Mansion and the University of Nevada, Reno. For a retrospective exhibit at the Nevada Museum of Art in 1992, then curator Howard Spencer wrote that Nicholson’s art “reflects a sense of nostalgia for the distinctive character of Nevada’s historical past, as well as a keen appreciation for the subtle beauty of the natural world.” Nicholson has received numerous awards and commissions, including the Jurors Award, Nevada Biennial at Nevada Museum of Art in 1996” (University of Nevada Knowledge Center). This is an early piece. Print number 253/350. Framed and signed by artist. Frame has nicks and dings.
