Jean Eugene Clary, 1856-1930, French, 'Vue de Rouen', depicting a busy port scene with figures and shipping in the port c.1900, oil on canvas, fully signed lower left, 59cm x 98cm, Footnote pupil of Medecook, 19th century French artist, born Paris in 1856, and died in 1930. Pupil of Medecook, under whom he studied art. Made his debut at the Paris Salon in 1878. Painter of landscape, figures and coastal scenes. Exhibited at the National Society - Des Beaux Arts and The Society of French Artists. Gained an Honourable Mention in 1883, and also in 1890. Won a bronze medal in 1895 and 1900 at the paris Salon. Has works in many of the French Art Galleries and Museums, including Paris and Lisieux. Sold on 24th October 1989 South Kensington Lot 364
