BUY ME!!! AN EXQUISITE PAINTING,PRICED TO SELL NOW,THIS PAINTING NEEDS A NEW HOME! purchased from Beaufel, Inc. of Tampa, Fl. in 1971. Sold from the estate of a Mrs. Hammond of same city and state. Painting was originally bought from the Wallace Collection of London,England [Hertford House] and Paris ,France [apartment in the rue Laffitte] Possible line; Sir Richard Seymour-Conway, 4th Marquess of Hereford, Paris; by inheritance to his illegitimate son, Sir Richard Wallace, Paris; by inheritance to his wife, Lady Julie Wallace,Paris; by bequest to the Wallace's secretary and adviser, Sir John Murray Scott, Paris; left to his intimate friend, Josephine Victoria Sackville-West, Lady Sackville, Paris; sold privately en bloc to Messrs Jacques Seligmann, of Paris, in 1914 led to the dispersal of a great collection of works of art. the fact that is was sold privately has meant that there is no clear idea in detail of its contents. The loss of Messrs Seligmann's papers during the 1939-45 war has made the matter of documentation near impossible. The painting is signed but unable to comfirm signature. During his life Greuze taught numerous pupils, many of whom imitated his work,[ Etienne Aubry, Charles Benazech, Louis Binet, Jean Boissieu Courbet, Henri Danloux,Jean Donve - to name a few]. The canvas is on it's original stretcher. The painting has at one time been restored and the canvas was been rebacked. It is a beautiful work of art.
