Marshal of France of the Napoleonic Era who commanded the cavalry of the Imperial Guard (1768–1813). Scarce ALS in French, signed “Bessieres,” one page, 7.25 x 9.25, April 28, 1809. Letter to an unknown recipient, almost certainly Marshal Jean Lannes, explaining that it is impossible for him to join him on that day. In fine condition, with a lightly trimmed left edge. A beautiful and well-preserved military letter.
