Jean Arthur Autographed Portrait. Jean Arthur was an irreplaceable actress, delightful in comedy, powerful in drama and unforgettable in such films as Mr. Deeds Goes to Town (1936), Mr. Smith Goes to Washington (1939) and Shane (1953), and on Broadway as Peter Pan (1950). Ms. Arthur signed this attractive mid-1930s still portrait in black fountain pen - "To 'Cinearte' - most cordially - Jean Arthur" ("Cinearte" was a South American film magazine.) The verso is stamped by photographer William A. Fraker, Columbia Studios. The left border has been trimmed, and some glue damage has partially obliterated the stamped "Jean Arthur Columbia Player" on the verso, but has not affected the front of the still. Jean Arthur is a difficult autograph to obtain in any form and this is a beauty!
