<B>Jay Ward Studio and Alex Agnatiev - Crusader Rabbit and Ragland T. Tiger Original Animation Art Model Sheets (circa 1946).</B></I> Alex Anderson, a nephew of Terrytoon Studios founder Paul Terry, created "Crusader Rabbit," and it became the first animated TV series. When Terry opted out of involvement with the project, Anderson contacted his old school chum, Jay Ward, to produce the series, and the two soon formed Television Arts Productions. The name of the "Crusader Rabbit" character came from Ward's concept of the rabbit as "a sort of crusading Don Quixote." The TV industry was in its infancy, and its budgets were minimal, so Anderson's solution to this was to create a "comic strip with some limited movement." Anderson's special comedic twist was trying to find characters whose personalities were the opposite of their physical appearances, and so he envisioned a character with a strong aggressive personality, in a body which audiences would believe belonged to a shy, passive character -- hence, "Crusader Rabbit." This lot contains two early model sheets. One is a red pencil drawing, which measures 8" x 12" , on which the mouth positions for various phonetic sounds are detailed for Crusader Rabbit at the top, and Ragland T. Tiger, or Rags the Tiger, on the bottom. The second, a blue pencil model sheet which measures 8.25" x 11.5", features a profile and front view of Rags the Tiger, as well as detail studies of Rags' head, hands, and hat. This piece was drawn by Alex Agnatiev, an animator known for his work with Bill Tytla, on the Disney feature "Fantasia." "Crusader Rabbit" was the first step in the evolution of TV animation and satire; here's your chance to own an incredible piece of cartoon history. <BR><BR><B>Important notice:</B> Heritage usually auctions material at the rate of 200-250 lots per hour. privileges conferred therein are strictly construed and is the exclusive
remedy. Purchaser by non-compliance to its express terms of a granted

<b>Dispute Resolution and Arbitration Provision:</b><o:p></o:p></span></li>

conducted under the provisions of the Federal Arbitration Act with locale
in Dallas, Texas. The prevailing party may be awarded his reasonable
attorney's fees and costs. An arbitrator's award is enforceable in any
court of competent jurisdiction. Any claim made by a bidder has to be
presented within one (1) year or it is barred. Any claim as to provenance
or authenticity must first be transmitted to Auctioneer by credible and
definitive evidence and there is no assurance such presentment that

and other contrary opinions may not be recognized by Auctioneer. Auctioneer
in no event shall be responsible for consequential and incidental damages
and the value of an item is determined by its high bid, which is
Auctioneer's maximum liability. Provenance is not guaranteed by the
Auctioneer, but rather provenance is guaranteed by the consignor. Any
action or claim shall include the consignor with auctioneer acting as
interpleador or nominal party. While every effort is made to determine
provenance and authenticity it is up to the Bidder to arrive at that
conclusion prior to bidding.<o:p></o:p></span></li>

default in payment thereof shall be arbitrated pursuant to the arbitration
provision. In the event that any matter including actions to compel
arbitration, construe the agreement, actions in aid or arbitration or
otherwise needs to be litigated, such litigation shall be exclusively in
the Courts of the State of Texas, in Dallas County, Texas, and if
