Signer of the US Constitution from Pennsylvania (1749–1822) who also ran unsuccessfully as the Federalist vice-presidential candidate in the 1812 election. Manuscript DS, signed “J. Ingersoll,” one page, 8 x 12.75, July 8, 1795. Legal deposition in the case of “Lessee of John Morgan vs. The Trustees of the University of Pennsylvania,” in part: “Thomas Mathew of New Brittain Township…A Witness being duly & legally sworn upon the part of the Plaintiff deposeth and saith—That he well knew John Morgan late of the City of Philadelphia, Merchant, who was this deponent’s first Cousin.” Endorsed at the conclusion by Ingerasoll, “I agree that notice was given me of taking the above Dep’n.” In very good condition, complete separation to central horizontal fold, other splits to folds, and foxing.
