Japanese warrior sculpture in ancient raku technique
Japanese warrior sculpture in ancient raku technique, signed, Frenches. Ceramic sculpture realized in ancient raku technique. Utterly captivating one of a kind Japanese sculpture, exquisitely molded and executed by gifted Paris-trained sculptress Fabian radicand (FARA), whose particular interest lies in the realization of ethnic and fantastical characters. the sober elegance and sense of tradition is belied by the vibrancy of its colors, and combines the ultimate in artistry and craftsmanship. Raku, a 16th century technique requires the artist's inspiration and skill in shaping, glazing, and firing the raw material, and in dominating fire by wrestling the sculpted object from the flames at the perfect moment and rapidly transferring it to a container of combustible material so as to obtain the desired oxidation of the enamel and a lovely smoke-infused, crackled finish as it cools. The sculpture is then carefully polished to reveal the rich tones and high gloss imparted by the artist.
