Japanese katana or longsword in traditional Japanese samurai style mountings with iron tsuba and mounts showing carved dragon in the blade and maker signed with Arsenal marks on tang. The blade measures 25 ½” and nearly36” overall. The blade is in very good condition showing just some minor beginning light erosion and pinprick pitting which is very small and just starting. The temper line is bumpy and extends clear around on thetip. The blade shows some handwork and is very nicely made and balanced. A lacquered wood scabbard is included that was leather covered and leather covering removed. About 75% lacquer remains with some losses anddistresses. The grip is good with some slight wear to the wrap and shows 2 simple cast brass menuke. During the war time period a few Japanese master sword smiths were allowed to work at the arsenals and sign theirnames. These masters created fine swords that are actively collected.
