Japanese Sword with Signed Nakago and Sheath
Blade is 26" long, with a wavy hamon, silver finished copper habaki, and brass seppa. Gilt finished brass tsuba, cloverleaf pattern with engraved iron accent plates on either side. Tsuka is fitted with a green cord wrap and blackened brass fittings with vine engravings. A brown and blue cord hangs from the kashira. The nakago is hand signed (eight symbols) on the left side, with the right side blank. Green lacquered sheath with engraved koiuchi and a brown leather cover. Also included with the lot is a purple cloth storage case with orange cord and a silk tag marked to a Corporal Kurosawa of the 5th Airfield Battalion. Condition: Very fine, with a strong hamon and spotting on the blade. Mild wear is visible on the fittings, with the tsuka slightly undersized for the nakago and some minor stains on the wrap. The leather sheath cover shows some moderate scuffing and scratches. A few light stains are present on the case.
