32 plate black lacquered Tetsu (Iron) Suji Bachi helmet, raised ribs where plates join, each plate is connected with five hammered rivets, overall shape is known as akoda-nari due to its resemblance to the akoda, a squash-like fruit. This helmet has the Nari Akoda shape, higher in the back. The Tehen (Central top piece) is five layered, with bleched horse hair. and the Mabisashi (Visor) has three large rivets, and the traditional red lacquer on the underside (Chipped). Has no Haraidate, fore crest holder. Shikoro (neck protector) has five leather plates (Lames) closely secured with pairs of green laces in the Sugake style, the top lame is turned back to form the Fukigayeshi, with Mons, believe Mouri, there is some loss to the leather, and there is just the outline of the Mon on the right Fukigayeshi. This type of ridged helmet was worn by upper-class samurai beginning in the Muromachi period (1392–1573). No liner. Overall very good condition. Comes with wooden stand.
