Mid Edo Period Brown Lacquered Samurai Armor. Nimai Do is a kind of cuirass for Tosei Gusoku (developed armor style). Nimai Do was named after the fact that Nimai means two plates, and Do means torso in Japanese. Instead of using a large number of small lamellar plates called Kozane, this cuirass used large rectangular shaped iron plates riveted. The name Okegawa came from the fact that the shape of this cuirass resembles the side (Gawa in Japanese) of Oke (Japanese wooden tub). The body armor part can be separated into two pieces and connected with a hinge. The hinge is located on the left side, and you can tighten this cuirass on the right side. The back plate has a metal square-shaped part is attached, Its center ring used to insert a flag. Samurais put flags into these and judged their side and enemies on the battlefields. Especially in group battles with infantry, this method was very effective because they could instantly identify affiliations. Sode (shoulder guards) Tetsusabiji iron Sode (seven horizontal plates) laced with green thread Five sections of lacquered leather plates Kusazuri laced with indigo blue, which was a winning color for Samurai, and green thread. Kusazuri is a skirt of plates attached to the cuirass. Kote (armored sleeves): intricate iron chain mail with silk with lacquered iron decorated plates on the chain mail and hand guards Overall very good with some chips, losses to the inside black lacquer of the plates, some damage and separation on the shoulder guards. Comes with wooden stand.
