Japanese Samurai Armor.
Original Japanese Samurai body armor battle crest carrier set. Consists of the Do-the main body of the armor, a breastplate crafted from lacquered iron. Hanging from the "Do" are the Kusazuri, a skirt-like section of armor protecting the hips, upper legs, and groin area. Do and Kusazuri are one piece Front Plate has Flag, battle crest Brackets. Worn in battle by a samurai carrying his Clan's flag/crest. Very well built comprising lower, upper and side parts of the plates having ornate iron borders decorated with gold toned floral, in scroll patterns. The under-arm parts and the top section are separate pieces, tightly held by blue braid cords. The front plate consists of okegawa-do nine horizontal iron lame plates woven with blue cords, the back plate has eight. The interior of the plates retaining most of its original leather cover and black lacquer finish. The kusazuri consists of six plates of five lacquered leather lames with the bottom ones longer than the rest. Although constructed in the traditional sixteenth-century Gusoku fashion, this is actually an example of the revival of earlier armor styles during the Edo period. Overall very good, intact with a few strands of the blue fabric attaching the Kusazuri broken.
