Japan: Arita, mid-20th century. This finely crafted porcelain bowl exemplifies the vibrant Imari style of Arita ware, featuring alternating scenic and floral panels in cobalt blue, red, and emerald green with gilded accents. The interior playfully includes three meticulously painted flies"an elegant nod to traditional Japanese humor in design. The base bears a red painted mark for Arita-yaki, denoting its origin in the famed porcelain-producing town of Arita. Based on the style and period, this bowl was likely created by one of the sons of Kitagawa Ihei, who established a family kiln in Arita in 1951 and worked alongside his sons to preserve the tradition of high-quality ceramic craftsmanship. Approximately 4.25"H x 9.5"Dia.
