Japanese Military Parade or Dress Sword, with Scabbard, nickel-plated 32.5" blade is unmarked, with a bright nickel finish, wavy false temperline, and blood groove; original leather blade washer is present. Hilt is gold gilt over brass, with a stippled backstrap, having floral decorations at the top and cherry blossoms on either side in the middle. Guard has pierced floral decorations and a long thin knuckle bow. Grip is black composite material with triple wire wrapping. Scabbard is nickel-plated steel with one hanging ring. Condition is very good, the blade is very nice with just a few light scratches from use, and old grease residue that should clean well. Hilt shows wear to the gold gilt finish, especially around the inside base of the guard, sides of the knuckle guard, and backstrap. Hilt is a bit loose on the blade tang and has movement. Composite grip has two tight hairline cracks at the top near the pommel fitting. Wire wrapping is all intact and tight. Scabbard has two tiny dings, wear to the nickel plating on the drag and a small dent in the edge, scattered light rust, scratches overall, and is missing the retaining screw for the mouth insert at the top. Overall a nice example and a fairly large size. Est.: $200-$300.
