Japanese Katana circa Shinto period signed by maker and samurai owner on opposite side of tang. The blade measures over 30” in length and is thick and beefy in proportions. The blade shows a wide blood groove and bumpy and ornate temper line. The blade is in good condition with most of its original polish, some erosion and pitting which is minor and temper line extends all the way to the tip. The sword is in traditional mounts withpierced iron tsuba and lacquered scabbard. The scabbards shows some small damage, tang shows 2 holes indicating remounting and measures slightly over 7”. Several experts have tried to read the signature and name but the writing is an unusual style and could not be determined. Est.;$5,000-$10,000.
