Japanese Arisaka Type 38 bolt action rifle, 6.5mm cal., 31-1/2” barrel, military finish, full mon and Japanese characters on top of receiver, Tokyo’s Koishikawa Arsenal proof, wood stock, sling swivels, cleaning rod, bayonet lug, #28 stamped into right side of stock and #63 painted in white also on same side of stock, #618761 in overall un-cleaned good to very good condition showing a dark patina on metal surfaces with mixed original blue finish, good bore, crisp action and good markings; wood shows lots of old scattered mars, dings, and scratches from carry and use. Accompanied by a note from the consignor that states: “This rifle was given to me in 1963 by a friend’s father. He told me that this Arisaka Rifle was captured on Guadalcanal by a friend of his, who gave it to him. There are no written records to verify the above. The condition of the Rifle may indicate significant use in combat”. We concur with this assessment and our consignor’s opinion certainly also qualifies given his experience and service to our Country as a combat veteran of the Vietnam War. Est.: $300-$600.
