Japanese Arisaka Type 30 (“hook safety”) bolt action carbine, 6.5mm cal., 20” barrel, military blue finish, wood stock, #320095 in overall un-cleaned good condition showing complete mum and Japanese characters, considerable blue finish with scattered spots of surface rust from long storage, good bore, crisp action, good markings, fair to good wood with initials “RM” carved in right side of butt stock as well as remnants of painted Japanese characters on same side of butt stock; would improve greatly with a careful cleaning and oiling; this Model in rifle and carbine was the primary shoulder arm of Japanese troops during the Russo-Japanese War of 1904.
