<tr>
<td width="100%">
A fine Japanese 'akasuke' ginbari, cloisonne vase, ca.1890-1910. Dimensions are 12" tall, 4-1/2" diameter (widest). Ginbari is a unique Japanese cloisonne where textured silver foil is wrapped around metal body, (normally brass), and wire closons, (silver in this case), before the transparent enamel is applied. The term 'akasuke' refers a special 'pigeon blood' colored color. The design on this fine akasuke ginbari vase is that of a pigeon walking beneath a flowering peony plant. The background is a deep, sparkling akasuke red. The color has a repetitive scroll design in silver wire and blue enamel. The short flaring foot has a repetitive pink beading and diaper design. Overall condition consensus is very fine, with only one small shoulder bump, (see enlargements).
