Scarce first printing 5.75 x 4 promo card for the opening night of the Fillmore East on March 8, 1968, featuring Big Brother & The Holding Company, Tim Buckley, and Albert King. The card features images of the Big Brother band members, including Janis Joplin in the center, taken by a young photographer by the name of Linda Eastman—the future Mrs. Paul McCartney—whose name appears just under Joplin's image. In fine condition, with small portions of toning. Accompanied by a modern color glossy photo of Janis Joplin and Grace Slick. Bill Graham used these cards to promote the grand opening of his east coast venture, the Fillmore East in New York City. These opening concerts served as Graham's way to introduce much-needed professionally produced concerts to a New York audience, and over the years he delivered acts including Jimi Hendrix, The Doors, Led Zeppelin, Derek and the Dominos, The Who, Miles Davis, Traffic, The Jeff Beck Group, Joni Mitchell, The Allman Brothers Band, Jefferson Airplane, Grateful Dead, Frank Zappa, and more. By 5 PM on the Fillmore East's opening night, there were already a hundred people lined up for the 8 o'clock show—the rest, as they say, is history.
