Janis Joplin Rare Letter Signed
"Incredible three page, double sided (except for last page), handwritten letter dated November 1, 1965. Written to former fiancT Peter De Blanc, the man who would break Joplin's heart and send her into an emotional tailspin, sparking her legendary music career! Interesting content throughout the letter, Janis writes with encouragement and affection to Peter, who was apparently in the hospital at that time. Joplin also brings to light her uncontrollable moodiness, an element which was the signature of her songwriting. In part, ""I still seem to be in a bad mood. I yelled at everyone all weekend and so the whole family is unanimous in wanting me to hear from you (I always become hell to live w/[the] when I haven't heard from you). Anyway I feel leaden and my mouth feels set--I doubt if I smile all day...I get a distinct impression that your all down & out behind all your problems. Damn, I know you've got problems, quite a number of them...Calm down & stop brooding!...(Boy I sure like this--a one sided argument! I can say anything I want to without having you overbear w/ a stern 'Janis!' Wow, this is the best kind of argument to have!...In English now...we are studying Byron...he is pretty fucked-up too.."" Adoringly signed at the conclusion, ""I love you xxxx, Janis."" Accompanied by the original mailing envelope, fully addressed by the legendary singer. An extremely well-preserved specimen of Joplin's penmanship in spectacular condition. "
