Jan Masaryk Inscribed and Signed Photograph. Black and white photograph, 8" x 10", np, June, 1945, signed as "To R.R. Gros with best wishes from Jan Masaryk. J.F. June 1945." Masaryk was a Czechoslovakian diplomat and politician, and was the son of Tomas Masaryk, the first president of Czechoslovakia. Masaryk served as the Foreign Minister of the Czechoslovakian government while it was in exile in Britain; he was found dead under his bathroom window in 1948. His death is sometimes called the third of the "Defenestrations of Prague" and is still debated today as to being a suicide or murder. <r The photograph is in very fine condition; the left edge is wrinkled slightly; some white spots are visible in the dark portions of the emulsion.
