Enormously popular Czech-born violin virtuoso (1880–1940). Scarce 4.5 x 6.75 cabinet portrait of the young violinist seated in an elaborately engraved chair, floridly signed in the lower border in fountain pen, “Jan Kubelik, 20–II–1902.” Published by Marceau of New York. In fine condition, with a few trivial surface marks. An exceptional example of Kubelik, signed at the age of twenty-two and in the very year he was awarded the gold medal by the Royal Philharmonic Society.
