Partly-printed DS, docketed and signed by James Wilson, one page both sides, 8.25 x 13, June 16, 1796. Land grant whereby Samuel Wallis conveys to Wilson 900 acres of land originally purchased from “the Indians east of the Allegany river.” Boldly docketed and signed by Wilson on the reverse in ink, “Deed, Samuel Wallis, Esq., to, James Wilson, Esq.” In fine condition, with some small stains.

Samuel Wallis (1736-98) was a Revolutionary War Officer (and suspected spy for the British), surveyor, Judge, and land speculator in Pennsylvania. Both Wallis and Wilson were land agents for the Holland Land Co., and had extensive land dealings with each other. By 1797, Wilson was indebted to Wallis for 88,500 pounds sterling from land purchases. Unfortunately for Wallis, Wilson died before ever having satisfied his debts.
