Italian-born American composer of popular music (1885–1945) best remembered for the song ‘You Made Me Love You (I Didn't Want to Do It’ introduced by Al Jolson in 1913. DS, signed “James V. Monaco,” one page, 8.5 x 16.5, January 8, 1912. Royalties agreement between Monaco and the Harry Von Tilzer Music Publishing Company. In part: “I, (We), the undersigned…do hereby bargain, sell, assign, set over and transfer to and unto said Assignee, its successors, and assigns, a certain title, song, words, music and musical composition bearing the title ‘Oh, John.’” Countersigned by lyricist Andrew B. Sterling. In very good condition, with some creasing and wrinkling, area of tape repair, uniform toning, a tiny tear at the top of the page, and show-through from printing on opposing sides.
