Archive of paperwork concerning the incorporation of Country Road Productions in 1972, containing seven documents signed by James Taylor and six signed by lawyer Nat Weiss. The papers are housed in a 10.5 x 11.25 binder, and in addition to the signed documents are dozens of pages of the articles of incorporation, meeting minutes, by-laws, certificates, notices, stock certificates, and various other documents. The corporation’s metal seal embosser is also present. In fine condition, with expected document wear. Accompanied by a certificate of authenticity from Tracks. Although he was still in his early 20s, Taylor had emerged on the national stage in 1970 and firmly established himself as America’s preeminent singer-songwriter. His album Sweet Baby James was nominated for the Grammy Award for Album of the Year in 1971, and in the same year his single ‘You've Got a Friend’ topped the charts at number one. In 1972, Taylor won the Grammy Award for Best Pop Vocal Performance, Male. He drew the name for this company from one of his earlier singles, ‘Country Road,’ which is one of his most popular songs. A fine archive of material from this exceptionally successful period of his career.
