Vintage 4.25 x 6.5 cabinet photo by Elliott and Fry of London, signed and inscribed in black ink “To Miss Dora Whailed, With kindest regards of J. R. Lowell.” Note on reverse in another hand reads, “To Miss Rosy Bonheur, celebrated for her success in painting wild animals. 30th March 1887.” In very good condition, with uniform light toning to lower border, some scattered light spotting and soiling to edges of image, crease to top left, and a bit of trivial silvering. Provenance: The Barry Hoffman Collection.
