James Reid 22 Caliber Knuckle Duster
Manufactured from 1868 to 1882, with a total production of about 10,690. The left side of the top strap is marked "MY FRIEND PAT'D. DEC. 26, 1865" and the serial number is marked on the bottom of the frame with partial match number on the 7-shot cylinder. The brass frame is engraved with a leaf and scroll design and also acts as a set of knuckles for hand fighting.

Fine. The cylinder and hammer have a smooth dark patina with some light pitting (heavier on the hammer spur). The frame retains approximately 90% original nickel plating with loss along the edges and some light flaking. The top strap marking is weak but legible, with the engraving clear and crisp. Mechanically functions, but is slightly loose.
