1936 James Naismith Passport with Multiple Signatures. Dr. Naismith's personal passport was issued May 29, 1936 to allow him to attend the 1936 Berlin Olympic Games, the first to feature the sport of basketball. On the inner cover Naismith signs his name and writes his address, and lists his son "Jack E. Naismith" as his emergency contact, creating a second autograph of sorts. He signs again on page three, which lists his height, hair and eye color, distinguishing marks ("Cauliflowered ears," the result of youthful football games, and his inspiration for the creation of the helmet), place and date of birth, and profession ("Professor"). Page four finds a fantastic passport photographic portrait of Naismith and his wife, which he again signs at top (a second, unsigned copy of this photo is included in the lot as well). The pages that follow feature entry and departure stamping that documents the Naismiths' trip to the Games. Passport and all writing and signatures are NRMT or better. LOA from PSA/DNA.

Shipping: Small Flat (view shipping information)
