<B>Important 1936 James Naismith Handwritten Signed Letter.</B></I><BR><BR>Date: August 2, 1936.<BR><BR>Location: Berlin, Germany, at Olympic Games.<BR><BR>Length in pages: Two, on Berlin hotel stationery.<BR><BR>Full text: "My dearie, I have not received a letter since coming to Berlin. There is no special tourist hotel but I sent to the P.O. and they will send it along. I got here the night of the 30th and spent yesterday visiting the boys. I went out to the village Olympia and met several of the boys. All of the basketball team & some of the coaches. Glenn was out so that I did not see him. I saw Dego & spent some time watching the basketball practice. I met 3 Springfield boys from China, several from Japan and all the French team. Tomorrow I go to the Canadian quarters to meet the team from Windsor. My time is pretty well filled up. Today I am going to take it easy. My cough has almost entirely disappeared and I am feeling fine. I eat one meal mainly fruit which is comparitively cheap here. I have some trouble translating the menu but I always look for beef or porc (sic) in some form. Last night I got one of Leslie's steaks 1 1/2 in thick called 'Filet' and french fried potatoes with a cup of tea. The tea is excellent and plenty of it. The coffee is good in Berlin but execrable in England. I have tried two cups and quit ordering it except to taste it. The food here is good as a whole. Well an agent has been here and is helping me to get my week planned. Well dearie I love you as much as ever and a little bit more and I think that this trip will help me to give you a good time when we are free to go where we please.
