1936 James Naismith Berlin Olympic Games Handwritten Diary & Ephemera. The tremendous pride felt by Dr. Naismith as he attended the first Summer Games to feature basketball as a medal sport is evident in the eighteen handwritten pages comprising the journal penned during his Berlin expedition. The text begins with his departure from the States, briefly touching upon his stops in England, Scotland, Holland and Belgium en route to Hitler's Olympic Games. Best are his commentaries on basketball games, most notably the Gold Medal victory of the United States over the Philippines, though he writes, "If it were not for height Phil. beat USA. Crowd in favor of P." All writing is 9/10 or better. Book is solid and undamaged, with light storage wear. Also included in this collection:

1) Basketball Program. Sixteen pages. German language. EX.

2) Basketball ticket stub. Torn lower left corner, otherwise VG-EX.

3) Olympic Stadium ticket stub, probably for track and field events.
