James Montgomery Flagg Handsome Signed Letter James Montgomery Flagg Handsome Autograph Letter About
James Montgomery Flagg Handsome Autograph Letter About Colorado Springs Autograph Letter Signed, 1 page, 8.5" by 11, no place. January 11, 1926. To "Bennett of Colorado Springs." In very fine condition. Best remembered as the creator of the iconic World War I "I Want You" recruiting poster featuring a pointing Uncle Sam (modeled on himself), Flagg was, in addition to being an artist, an author - a fact he refers to here, fleetingly, as he recalls a trip to Colorado Springs, Colorado. In full: "Thanks for your letter. I have been to your present home town - 23 years ago - & stopped by at a nice little hostelry "The Antler" - so I have traveled! I sidestepped Chamber of Commerce as I didn't want to feel under obligation not to say what I thought - Glad my book interested you." Flagg may have been referring to his 1925 account of a riotous road trip, Boulevards All the Way - Maybe, which raised, critically, riots of its own, either loved or hated. From the Henry E. Luhrs Collection. Accompanied by LOA from PSA/DNA.
