Document Signed by James Monroe, 6 April, 1812, Washington, 1p, 4to, certifying William Cranch as Chief Judge of the Circuit Court for the District of Columbia. Boldly and clearly signed "James Monroe" as Secretary of State. Magnificently triple matted in burgundy and white along with a color image and brass descriptive plaque. All components are surrounded by gold fillets, and contained in a heavy gold frame to an overall size of 34-1/2" x 28".
