James Monroe land grant signed as President, dated 20 October 1824, to a Richard McCurdy for 160 acres of land in ''the District of Detroit and Territory of Michigan''. The fifth President signs: ''James Monroe'' in the lower right corner. Countersigned by George Graham, Fourth Commissioner of the General Land Office. Vellum document measures 15.5'' x 9.5'' with the seal of the General Land Office and remnants of red wax intact. Clipped upper right edge and minor separation at folds, else very good.
