Ship’s pass issued for “The ship General Eaton of Portsmouth, Hugh Clarkson master and commander…mounted with no guns navigated with twelve men.” Signed at the conclusion by Madison and countersigned by Secretary of State Robert Smith. In very good condition, with scattered toning, foxing and soiling, several creases, and intersecting folds. The white seal is worn and cracked, but intact.
