Partly-printed vellum DS, signed “James Madison” as president and “Jas. Monroe” as secretary of state, one page, 16 x 9.5, February 20, 1811. Land grant issued to Abraham Demott for a parcel of land under an “Act of Congress entitled ‘An Act providing for the sale of the Lands of the United States in the territory north-west of the Ohio and above the mouth of the Kentucky River.’” Intersecting folds, one through a single letter of Madison’s signature, Madison’s signature light, but legible, small hole at central junction of folds, and scattered toning and soiling, otherwise very good condition. The white seal is lightly worn and toned, but intact.
