TLS signed “J.M.W.,” one page, 8 x 10.5, November 29, 1945. Letter to Lt. Col. Thomas Dooley, in part: "I am amazed at the order assigning you to the Cavalry Replacement Pool at Fort Riley. Some stupid ass down at Hot Springs, Arkansas, doesn't seem to understand the status of a General Officer's aide. I am forwarding the order referred to, to The Adjutant general today with a very salty indorsement inviting attention to the impropriety of this order and requesting that you be ordered to proceed to Governors Island, New York to report to me not later than January 15th. I think that it will straighten it all out." He goes on to outline his upcoming itinerary, first to Monterey to look into purchasing a house, then to Los Angeles ("where the movie stars are giving me a party (that will be bad)"), and on to Fort Worth. He further promises some discretion in relation to Lt. Col. Dooley's new girlfriend: "Rest assured, that I will not mention Juanita Redmond or any of the many of the cute girls that I have had the pleasure of seeing in your company." In fine condition, with small stains and staple holes to the upper left corner.
