American economist (1919–2013) whose work on public choice theory earned him the Nobel Memorial Prize in 1986. Two TLSs, both signed with his initials, each one page, 8.25 x 11, Center for Study of Public Choice letterhead, dated December of 1990 and January of 1991. Both letters are to Michael Tochtermann “with reference to the Recktenwald project on the Future of Economic Science.” One reads, in part: “I was never sure whether or not Professor Recktenwald and I could communicate fully with each other for he seemed to consider that I had made commitments when I did not think that such was the case. My last note from Professor Recktenwald was a request that I write a short essay on ‘Economic Science in the Future,’ 5–10 pages, to be translated into German.” In overall fine condition, with punch holes to left side of both letters.
