ALS signed “J. M. Barrie,” one page both sides, 5.5 x 7, personal letterhead, May 16, 1920. Letter to English composer and poet Arnold Bax. In part: “I am not sure that I shall be in London…but if I am I shall certainly come to Miss Cohen’s recital. It is quite true unfortunately that I am contemptibly unmusical, but that does not mean that I get no joy out of music, and I should like to hear your work expressed by that lady…who I felt certain as soon as I saw her, must be good at something.” In very good condition, with overall staining affecting the appearance. During this same period, Bax wrote the score for Barrie’s whimsical play The Truth About the Russian Dancers, which was produced by Serge Diaghilev with the Ballets Russes in 1920.
