A 3-inch diameter ‘President’s Council on Physical Fitness & Sports’ emblem and accompanying certificate of authenticity, 3.75 x 2. In full: “I certify that this emblem was aboard Apollo 8 on man’s first flight around the moon, December 24, 1968,” signed in black ink by Lovell. Matted with a color ‘Earthrise’ photo with autopen signatures of the Apollo 8 crew and framed to an overall size of 15.5 x 16. Accompanied by a secretarially signed letter on White House letterhead dated November 22, 1968. In fine condition, with slight discoloration to the lower portion of the patch’s rim and some edge toning to the certificate. An always desirable flight-flown artifact from the Apollo mission.
