This original color woodcut titled "De Soto" and signed by New Orleans artist James L. Steg is in excellent condition. It is numbered 5/40, and is framed, glazed and triple matted. It was originally purchased at E. Weyhe, Inc. of New York City.



James Louis Steg (American, 1922-2001)
Although born in Virginia, Steg is best known for being a New Orleans artist. He taught at Tulane University, and in 1991 was named Printmaker Emeritus of the Southern Arts Council. His work may be found all over the United States, and he has exhibited solo numerous times.
